On September 5th, the Party Committee of Business School organized faculty to visit and study at Changxing Base of Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. (ZPMC), to experience the charm of the pillars of a great power at a close distance. Secretary Ma Jingbo of the Business School Party Committee, and Dean Zhao Laijun led the team.

Established in 1992, ZPMC is a famous heavy-duty equipment manufacturer around the world. The Zhenhua Port Machinery Industry Study Base of ZPMC Changxing Branch has been awarded as the Chongming district patriotic education base. During this visit, our faculty members climbed up to the 29th-floor sightseeing platform to overlook the entire factory area: the magnificent quay cranes were arranged along the coastline in sequence. The south zone is where the industrial plants are situated, while the north zone is dedicated to protecting the ecological environment. At quay 0, our faculty visited the large-scale quay bridge and the intelligent manufacturing workshop for large crane box girders, observed the robotic welding workstation inside the girder and the environmental observation station; additionally, they also explored various special equipment like ten thousand DWT vessels.

This visit and study activity is a meaningful experience for the faculty members of the Business School. It provided them with an opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of enterprises. The faculty was able to broaden their professional horizons and enhance their comprehensive abilities by combining theory and practice. They saw the ZPMC’s significant achievements in high-quality development and learned the innovative spirit of daring to be the first and leading the world trend epitomized by ZPMC. This experience not only enhanced the faculty’s professional literacy and sense of responsibility, but also reinforced their love for the Party, country, and socialism. It further inspired the faculty to cultivate a strong sense of mission, which will help build an international first-class business school.
