Updated:2023-08-24

On the morning of August 23, Chen Bintong, member of the Development Strategy Advisory Committee of our school and professor of Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics, University of Delaware (UDel), was invited to our school to carry out academic exchange activities and give an academic lecture on the topic of "A Unified Performance Measurement Framework for Classification Algorithms". The lecture was presided over by Prof. Zhao Laijun, dean of Business School. And Prof. He Jianjia, deputy dean, faculty members of related disciplines and graduate students attended the lecture.

Before the lecture began, Zhao Laijun welcomed Chen Bintong's arrival and introduced Chen Bintong's main research areas and academic achievements.

Chen Bintong shared a proposed unified performance measurement framework for classification algorithms in the lecture. He divided existing performance metrics into three categories based on the shape under likelihood transformation: "monotone measures", "unimodal measures", and "multi modal measures". The unified framework can systematically analyze the characteristics of classification algorithm performance metrics and provide guidance for designing new performance metrics. In the lecture, he had an in-depth communication and discussion with the participants, and provided detailed answers and suggestions to the questions raised by the teachers and students.

After the lecture, Chen Bintong shared his experience in scientific researches and paper writing based on his personal experience in the field of management science, operations research and operations management. He said that in scientific research, firstly, it is necessary to determine one's own goals, interests, and needs; Secondly, there is no shortcut to scientific research, and we should be down-to-earth and be an action-oriented person; Thirdly, we should keep up with the situation, target social and economic needs, and pay attention to the innovation of research; the fourth is to find a good role model, do a good job in personal positioning, apply our own strengths, and do what we can do well.
