The Final of the 13th National Student E-commerce "Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship" Competition of University of Shanghai for Science and Technology Successfully Held

On the morning of April 9, 2023, the final round of the 13th National Student E-Commerce Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship Challenge (hereinafter referred to as the Sanchuang Competition) was successfully held at the Business School of University of Shanghai for Science and Technology.

This on-campus selection competition was hosted by University of Shanghai for Science and Technology(USST) and organized by USST Business School and E-Commerce Development Institute. The Sanchuang Competition ranked 14th in the 2020 national ranking of competitions for university students in general colleges and universities issued by the Research Working Group on Competition Evaluation and Management System of Colleges and Universities of China Higher Education Society, attracting wide attention from colleges and universities. As a class A subject competition recognized by the university, all colleges of the university have enthusiastically applied for the competition since its official launch in 2022, and a total of 14 teams were finally successfully shortlisted for the final of this selection competition after the preliminary examination and other levels of selection within the university. The finalists Judges were Professor Yang Jianzheng, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Hong Kong Xing Fan Education Foundation and Professor of the Business School of University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, Mr. Li Yue, former Director of the Shanghai E-Commerce Promotion Center, Mr. He Shaowei, General Manager of Yu’an (Shanghai) Data Services Co., Ltd, Professor Fan Chongjun of Business School of University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, Associate Professor Ni Jing of the Business School of University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, and Mr. Zhao Gengsheng of the Public Experiment Center of University of Shanghai for Science and Technology. The audition was hosted by Associate Professor Zhu Xiaodong from the Department of Information Management and Information Systems.

The selection competition was held in the form of report evaluation + on-site defense. The entries involved hot issues in many fields such as agricultural land use, health care, non-heritage material and cultural heritage, elderly rehabilitation, artificial intelligence applications, etc. The teams from the School of Optoelectronic Information, Business School, School of Health Science and Engineering, Sino-British International School, College of Publishing, Printing and Art Design and other schools cooperated well, thought clearly, and spoke concisely, and from the three dimensions of innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship, they presented and discussed comprehensively on topic selection, project design, investigation and implementation, and analysis and conclusion. The expert judges made detailed comments on the teams from various angles, such as project selection, market analysis, program design, technical proof, business feasibility and practice, and made suggestions for improvement in view of the existing problems.

The competition was held simultaneously in two groups, and after a morning of fierce competition, eight teams emerged from the competition and were successfully shortlisted for the ultimate PK competition. After the experts' careful selection, the ranking order of all teams was finally revealed. According to the quota allocated by the Shanghai Organizing Committee, the top teams will represent University of Shanghai for Science and Technology to participate in the 13th National Student E-Commerce Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship Challenge in Shanghai. The final round of the school competition selected one special prize, two first prizes, four second prizes and seven third prizes. At the same time, one team each was awarded the Best Innovation Award, the Best Innovation Idea and the Best Entrepreneurship Award in the selection competition.

At the closing ceremony, Yang Jianzong made a wonderful concluding speech. He pointed out that the competition is a platform for students to show their talents and realize their dreams, which can combine the theoretical knowledge they have learned with practice. He hoped that students would continue to carry forward the spirit of creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship in their future study and work, and constantly pursue higher goals and better development. Zhu Xiaodong said that the success of the competition could not be held without the support and efforts of all parties including the Business School and the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship. In the future, the Department of Information Management will continue to actively explore the mode and method of innovation and entrepreneurship education, and provide more opportunities and support for students' development. It is believed that in the future, more students will show themselves through the stage of Sanchuang Competition and become the best in the field of e-commerce.

The competition aims to encourage college students to actively explore and innovate in the field of e-commerce and continuously promote the development of the e-commerce industry. The competition not only provides a platform for students to showcase themselves and refine their skills, but also injects new vitality and momentum into the future development of the e-commerce field.
