On the afternoon of March 21st, Li Mingchao, Director of Research from Hangzhou International Urban Studies Center, Shao Ying, Deputy Dean of the Institute of Smart City Research, and Rong Zhengtong, Deputy Research Librarian of Qian Xuesen Library at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, visited our university. They were received by Zhao Laijun, Dean of the Business School at University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, for a discussion and exchange. Also present at the meeting were Gao Yan, Discipline Leader of System Science, Gu Changgui, Director of the Department of System Science, Liu Yuanhua, Party Secretary of the Department of System Science, Xi Ning, Deputy Director of the Department of System Science, and Zhi Luping, Director of the Office of the Shanghai Institute of System Science.
Zhao Laijun warmly welcomed the delegation from Hangzhou International Urban Studies Center and Qian Xuesen Library at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He introduced the Business School and its discipline. He emphasized that in recent years, the Business School has made significant progress in talent cultivation, scientific research, discipline construction, international exchange, and talent introduction.

When introducing the Hangzhou International Urban Studies Center, Li Mingchao stated that the center mainly focuses on research related to seven major urban issues, including floating population, transportation, education, healthcare, land and housing, cultural heritage protection, and ecological environment. The center also organizes the annual China Urban Studies Conference and conducts the Qian Xuesen Urban Studies Gold Award selection activities.

Shao Ying presented the ideas behind the China Urban System Science Forum. She pointed out that the purpose of the forum is to inherit and promote the system science philosophy of Mr. Qian Xuesen, and she expressed a desire to cooperate on the organization and solicitation of papers related to the China Urban System Science Forum.

Rong Zhengtong introduced the Qian Xuesen Library at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He stated that the library is a cultural and educational platform that promotes the spirit of Qian Xuesen, patriotism, and scientific spirit to the society. He expressed a hope that both parties can strengthen communication and work together to promote and inherit the spirit of Qian Xuesen.

Subsequently, the participants had in-depth discussions and exchanges on cooperation matters related to joint paper solicitation on Urban System Science and joint organization of the China Urban System Science Forum. The discussions covered the main sponsor of the forum, the format of the event, the paper topics, the requirements for submission, and the paper selection process.
