On the afternoon of February 28th, the 8th artificial intelligence salon of the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology was successfully held in the second conference room in Business School. The theme of this salon is communication and cooperation between artificial intelligence and intelligent medical engineering, with the goal of promoting two-way empowerment between the two professions. More than 40 faculties from the Business School, the School of Health Science and Engineering, and the Institute of Machine Intelligence participated in the activity. This activity was hosted by Liu Yong, Deputy Director of the Department of Information Management and Information Systems of Business School.
First of all, Zhao Laijun, dean of the Business School, delivered a welcome speech. He said that the Business School strongly supports the communication between artificial intelligence and intelligent medical engineering majors, and hopes to build an efficient, continuous, in-depth, and professional platform for scholars to communicate and display their research. Then, Zhao Laijun said that in the report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, it was pointed out to promote the development of emerging strategic industry convergence and build a new generation of information technology, artificial intelligence, and other new growth engines. Artificial intelligence has become the core technology leading the new round of technology revolution and industrial transformation. Zhao Laijun introduced the cross-integration of artificial intelligence and medical health from the application scenarios of artificial intelligence in the medical field to the development of digital intelligence in the medical and health field and cross-cooperation research projects on medical and engineering carried out in our university recently.
Subsequently, Cui Haipo, Vice Dean of the School of Health Science and Engineering, briefly introduced the development of biomedical-related majors, shared the development cases of integration of medicine and other majors, and proposed the mode and direction of in-depth cooperation between artificial intelligence and intelligent medical engineering majors.
Professor Zhu Zhigang, Professor Ma Liang, and Professor Fan Chongjun briefly introduced the growth and characteristic research directions of intelligent medical engineering, management science and engineering, systems engineering, and artificial intelligence. During the discussion and exchange session, young faculties at the meeting shared their relevant research directions and achievements, and experts at the meeting jointly discussed in-depth cooperation and the development of interdisciplinary cooperation projects, interdisciplinary talent cultivation, and other aspects.
The successful holding of this salon will help promote the exchange and collaboration between the artificial intelligence and intelligent medical engineering majors of our university and strengthen the faculty ties between departments. This event will take artificial intelligence as a new growth engine, cultivate interdisciplinary medical talents in the intelligent era, and promote the high-quality development of intelligent medicine. In the future, we will continue to hold interdisciplinary innovation seminars on artificial intelligence and intelligent medical engineering to promote communication and collaboration among disciplines.
