On November 22, 2022, the CSuRe Salon Fundamental Models of Higher-Order Network Evolution of the 40th event of academic series of HUJIANG Economic and Management Forum was successfully held in Room 910 of the Business School. The guest speaker was Professor Guo Jinli from the Department of Industrial Engineering, a scientist at the Center for Supernetwork Research (CSuRe). Dong June, professor of State University of New York and the director of CSuRe, several CSuRe members including Gan Hongcheng, He Shengxue, Wang Ke and Lu Zhi, faculties such as associate professor Liu Weiwei as well as postgraduates from the Department of Transportation System Engineering, attended the salon. The salon was hosted by Dr. Zhang Guang, a CSuRe fellow of the Department of Systems Science.

Prof. Guo started from the origin of higher-order networks. First, he introduced the relationship between graph theory and networks, graphs and hypergraphs, complex networks and higher-order networks. Then some of his results in the study of higher-order networks are presented, including the homogeneous hypernetwork evolution model, the non-linear meritocratic model of non-homogeneous hypernetworks, and the non-homogeneous competitive hypernetwork and weighted hypernetwork models. Prof. Guo also applied the constructed supernetwork models to the evolutionary analysis of brand effects and competitiveness, and explored the potential applications of higher-order networks to Bose-Einstein coalescence.

Prof. Guo's presentation was wonderful and interesting, reflecting his profound mathematical skills and broad academic vision. Students and faculty from the departments of Information Management & Information Systems, Systems Science, Transportation Systems Engineering, and industrial Engineering had in-depth discussions with him. The salon broadened the academic thinking and international vision of the students and faculty. Finally, Dong June highly praised Prof. Guo's academic achievements and wonderful lectures. The salon was successfully concluded in a warm and pleasant atmosphere.
