The Academic Salon of the series of activities of Hujiang Economic Management Forum (issue 43) was successfully held

On Dec 16th, the Academic Salon of the series of activities of Hujiang economic and Management Forum of Business school (issue 43) was held at Tencent Conference (404-291-327). Associate professor Liu Dan from the department of industrial engineering gave an academic talk entitled "Building a Resilient Urban Freight Transportation Network: Artificial Intelligence and Optimization Technology".

Freight transportation infrastructure and related transport elements (trains, ships, planes and trucks) comprise a crucial lifeline for society. Freight network disruptions caused by the pandemic could impact competitiveness, economic growth, and people's normal life. Thus, establishing a resilient, cooperative and sustainable freight network is highly needed. How AI and optimization technology can facilitate a resilient freight network was addressed by Dr. Liu in three aspects "Freight Network Planning Based on Spatiotemporal Data Analysis", "Resilient Multimodal Transport Network Design and Optimization", "Smart Logistics and Urban Distribution Intelligent Algorithm Design". And the cutting-edge research methods and the application of research results in actual cargo transportation are discussed in detail. The teachers and students who participated in this salon also actively asked questions and discussed the future of research.

After the report, two professors made wonderful summaries and comments on the main contributions, innovation, and future research directions.
