From 12 to 13 November, 2022, the 6th China System Science Conference (CSSC2022) was held in Shanghai. The conference was co-hosted by Shanghai Institute of Systems Science and the Steering Committee of China System Science Conference, and organized by University of Shanghai for Science and Technology (USST) in association with the Institute of Systems Science of the Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the School of Systems Science of Beijing Normal University, the Institute of Systems Science and Engineering of the Department of Transportation of Beijing Jiaotong University, the School of Science of the University of National Defense Technology, the Autonomous Intelligent Unmanned Systems Science Center of Tongji University, the Chinese Society of Systems Engineering and the Professional Committee of Control Theory of China Automation Society. Academician Guo Lei of the Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Professor Ding Xiaodong, President of USST, were the Presidents of the Conference.
With the purpose of creating systems science and promoting the discipline construction of systems science, the China System Science Conference open discussions around system methodology, system evolution, system cognition, system regulation, system engineering and related disciplines, providing a cross disciplinary and high-level platform for the inter-exchange among Chinese and foreign scholars in systems science. The conference attracted more than 2,000 experts or scholars from 122 universities and research institutions across China, who participated in the conference in an either offline and online manner.

Academician Guo Lei, Chairman of the Conference, delivered a speech. He stated that, within the framework of worldview and methodology derived from the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era , it is of great significance to emphasize the concept of system thinking when the world is going through momentous changes unseen in a century. Complex systems science has become the frontier of science and technology development. In this context, in order to meet the challenges of science and technology and economic and social development to system science, the China System Science Conference has been shouldering the important task of engaging young people into the field of system science and promoting exchanges among scholars of system science across the country.

Academician Guo Lei is delivering a speech
Jia Bin, the professor of the Beijing Jiaotong University delivered a speech. He stated that, in the guidance of the concept of system referred by the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Xi Jinping, the 8th System Science Discipline Review Group will keeping to support the development of the China System Science Conference, facilitate in-depth cooperation, mobilize relevant universities and scientific research institutions to actively bid for the China System Science Conference. This will promote the holding of the Frontier Forum on System Science, and expand the influence of the system science discipline in the country.

President Ding Xiaodong delivered a speech on behalf of the organizer. First of all, he extended a warm welcome to the 2000 experts, scholars and graduate students from all over the country. He especially appreciated the four academicians for their reports in the conference and the eight outstanding scholars who participated in the special seminar of the conference. He briefly introduced the general situation of USST and the achievements made in the discipline development. He pointed out that the system science discipline is one of the disciplines in the construction of Shanghai's high-level university. The university will continue to support the construction and development of the system science discipline, engage more young scholars to study in the system science research, and cultivate more outstanding talents for the system science field.

Academician Liu Guozhi of the Academy of Military Sciences, Academician Xue Yusheng of the State Grid Academy of Electric Power Sciences, Academician Tang Lixin of Northeast University, and Academician David Rios Insua of the Spanish Royal Academy of Sciences respectively made brilliant presentations on the topics of “Complexity will become an important weapon in the future intelligent war”, “Overall Entropy Preserving Reductionism - Taking the mechanism research of Lorenz system as an example”, “Analysis and optimization of intelligent industrial data”, and “Network security risk model”. Subsequently, the conference organized a symposium on the theme of “Systems in Science” and “Prospects for the Development of Systems Science”. Professor Zhang Haitao, Professor Yan Gang, Professor Li Hui, Professor Tang Yang, Professor Li Daqing, Professor Li Jichao, Professor Wu Jianjun, Professor Zhao Jing and other outstanding scholars each gave a special report on the conference, including theoretical research on system theory, system control and optimization. It also covered the application research of complex systems in cluster intelligence, life science, military war, urban transportation and other multidisciplinary fields. The conference received 822 contributions, arranged 71 groups of reports, and conducted academic exchanges around 586 reports.

Chongqing Jiaotong University, the organizer of the 7th China System Science Conference, and Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications introduced the preparations for the next conference.
