The Lunch Meeting Themed Discuss Research with Dean of the Series of Activities of the Hujiang Economic and Management Forum(the 37th) Successfully Held

In order to help new enrolled teachers in  selecting research topic for fund application and refining research ideas, the school held two “Dean's Research Luncheon” in Conference Room 506 at noon on Tuesday and Wednesday. In the meeting, participating staff consulted Professor Zhao Laijun, the Dean of business school, for ideas and advice on funding application. The luncheon was hosted by He Jianjia, the vice dean of the Business School. The incoming teachers include Qin Peng, Cui Menglin, Zhou Yiwei, Chen Chen, Yao Danli and Wang Ke of the Department of Information Management & Information Systems, and Fu Wenhan, Hhuang He, Xie Minzhi, Liu Dan, and Zhang Hao of the Department of Industrial Engineering, participated in the meeting.

At the lunch meeting, the participating teachers exchanged and reported their research plans, existing grants, national funding application plans for 2023, and the progress and ideas of upcoming projects. Upon hearing their reports, Zhao Laijun commented on individual reports, and had detailed and in-depth exchange with every teacher regarding how to explore and refine research topics for successful funding application.

In the meeting, Zhao Laijun shared new ideas gleaned from recent academic conferences. Through vivid cases, he inspired teachers to participate academic conferences, put more efforts in contemplating ideas and discussing with peers. Harnessing existing research foundation and incorporating new problems, “old trees bring forth new flowers”.

The two meetings are the start of a series of lunch meetings themed by Discuss Research with Dean. Later on, the school will arrange such meeting for the rest eight departments. The Dean, Professor Zhao Laijun will work in the frontline to give targeted suggestions to young teachers on the topic selection and research framework aiming at determining the research topics as soon as possible, earning longer time for revision and improve the quality of application among young teachers.
