On November 16, 2022, the Business School and Shanghai Yangpu District Youth Science and Technology Station held a signing ceremony for cooperation on the artificial intelligence based-on a training lab. Sun Qing, the head of Shanghai Yangpu District Youth Science and Technology Station, Zhou Jianjun, the deputy head of the station, Wu Wen and Sun Dengyao, two faculties, Zhao Laijun, the dean of the Business School, Zhang Zheng, the deputy dean of the Business School, Liu Yong, the deputy dean of the Department of Information Management and Information Systems, Liu Qinming, the dean of the Department of Industrial Engineering, Liu Weiwei, the deputy dean of the Department of Transportation System Engineering, Shu Yiming, the director of the undergraduate academic affairs office, and Wang Jiawen, the teacher’s representative, were present in the ceremony.
At the beginning of the meeting, Zhao Laijun delivered a welcome speech and introduced the Business School. University of Shanghai for Science and Technology (USST) is the second batch of universities establishing the undergraduate major of “Artificial Intelligence(AI)”. The AI major focuses on algorithms and is featured by AI + management. In addition that AI is the undergraduate major, it is also one of research directions of several master’s programs, doctoral programs, and post-doctoral mobile stations. Sun Qing briefed about the Youth Science and Technology Station in Yangpu District (hereinafter referred to as “Shaoke Station”). The Youth Science and Technology Department is a comprehensive education unit affiliated to the Education Bureau of Yangpu District, which is responsible for cultivating the scientific innovation literacy of regional youth. Shaoke Station has offered nearly 100 public welfare science and technology training courses and dozens of popular science brand activities every semester which have benefited tens of thousands of primary or secondary students in the region. Zhang Zheng introduced the construction of the school’s youth science and innovation education base, and also introduced the construction plan of “metaverse + education”.
The Business School and Shanghai Yangpu District Youth Science and Technology Station will work together to build an artificial intelligence training lab for the USST, and build a training and exchange platform for high-school students in Yangpu District to cultivate scientific and technological innovation talents. Based on the principle of providing systematic guidance for young people’s AI education, the Base builds a new ecology of AI+education to promote innovation-based development of young people’s literacy about AI.
