Recently, the Industrial Engineering Teaching and Research Office (Major) was approved as a member of the Virtual Teaching and Research Office of the Ministry of Education. In order to thoroughly implement the requirements of the “Notice on Accelerating the Pilot Construction of Virtual Teaching and Research Rooms” issued by the Ministry of Education, a seminar on the construction of Virtual Teaching and Research Rooms for Practical Teaching and Research in Industrial Engineering was held jointly by 25 cooperative universities led by Shanghai Maritime University on October 27, 2022. Professor Liu Bin and Associate Professor Liu Qinming of the Industrial Engineering Major attended the meeting.
The conference was co-chaired by Huang Shunquan, Director of the Academic Affairs Office of Shanghai Maritime University, and Professor Wang Jinfeng, Director of the Virtual Teaching and Research Office. Professor Zheng Li, Vice President of Tsinghua University, delivered a speech on behalf of the Industrial Engineering Teaching Guidance Committee of the Ministry of Education. The conference invited 7 experts to deliver presentations, including: Professor Wang Yonggui, Vice President of Capital University of Economics and Trade; Professor Zhao Lei, Associate Dean of the Department of Industrial Engineering, Tsinghua University; Professor He Zhen, Head of the Department of Industrial Engineering, Tianjin University; Professor Zhou Dequn, Dean of School of Economics and Management, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics; Professor Yi Shuping, Chongqing University; Professor Gao Liang, Secretary of the Party Committee, School of Mechanical Science and Engineering, Huazhong University of Science and Technology; Professor Zhang Shuntang, Head of the Department of Industrial Engineering, Shandong University of Technology and Business. A total of 55 people attended the meeting, including Professor Li Zhipeng, Deputy Secretary and Vice President of Shanghai Maritime University, Professor Huang Shunquan, Director of the Academic Affairs Office, Professor Han Hao, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Logistics Engineering, Professor Xu Xiaoyan, Dean, and Professor Hu Hongtao, Deputy Dean, as well as the department heads and teachers of each member of the virtual teaching and research office. At the meeting, Professor Liu Bin expressed that as a member unit of the Virtual Teaching and Research Office of the Ministry of Education for Industrial Engineering, he would exploit the features of the industrial engineering of University of Shanghai for Science and Technology to build a virtual teaching and research office for both practical training and field competition.
Based on the "field" effect of excellent teachers, the virtual teaching and research office of industrial engineering will build inter school sharing mechanisms for industrial engineering teachers, establish cross space and time experimental platforms, develop resources sharing mechanism for both practical training and mass entrepreneurship and innovation, break the location restrictions and the enclosure of traditional physical teaching and research offices, and offset the shortage or redundancy of practical teaching resources in collaborative colleges and universities, so as to realize the joint development and sharing of high-quality practical teaching resources, meet the urgent needs of students for high-quality educational resources, and finally achieve the goal of enabling the continuous improvement of the quality of talent cultivation in industrial engineering professionals in China.
At last, the meeting held a ceremony for the appointment of USST industrial engineering as a member of the virtual teaching and research room of practice teaching and research of the Ministry of Education. The director of this member unit has been appointed
