New Era, New Vision and New Future – The USST International Trade Talent Forum was successfully held

On the morning of October 29, 2022, to celebrate the 116th anniversary of the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, the Department of International Economics and Trade organized a talent forum with the theme of "new era, new vision, new future" actively responding to the call of the university and the business school. The forum was successfully held online. Luo Fang, the head of the Department of International Trade, the deputy head Qin Bingtao, all teachers and some graduate and undergraduate students participated in this activity. The activity was hosted by He Wen, Secretary of the Party of the Department of International Trade.

At the beginning of the forum, He Wen introduced the basic information of the alumni who participated in this activity and warmly welcomed them to "come home" online. The first person to share experience is Chen Haolan, an alumnus of the 2022 International Trade, who is currently studying for a master's degree at Columbia University. She shared her experience in studying abroad mainly from the aspects of preparation before studying abroad, interview process for studying abroad, application suggestions, and etc. The second speaker was Li Yushi, an alumnus of the 2020 International Trade and a graduate of Shanghai Jiaotong University. Li Yushi mentioned that it is important to carefully explore inner thoughts whether to start career or continue to study; It is also suggested that participation in more activities and communication with teachers is important; Be conscious and plan well ahead of time; The path that seniors have traveled is your bottom limit, but not your upper limit. The third person to share experience is Jiang Siqi, an alumnus of the 2022 International Trade, who is currently studying at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics for a master's degree. Jiang Siqi shared the history of the postgraduate entrance examination and according to the time line analyzed some tips for applying for the postgraduate program such as major and direction selection. The fourth speaker was Yang Jiawen, an alumnus of the 2022 International Trade, who is currently studying at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics for a master's degree. She introduced the differences between academic and professional masters, the selection experience of postgraduate program and several misconceptions about postgraduate entrance examination.

In addition, Fu Boyun, an alumnus of 2017 International Trade, graduated from Peking University with a master's degree, and Li Hao, an alumnus of the Department of International Trade and president of Tailong Bank Pudong Branch, also participated in the forum. He Wen made a summary speech on the forum activities, and on behalf of all the teachers of the Department of International Trade and Economics, he hoped that all the students could ask more questions and listen more to advices when facing life choices in the future and make full preparations.
