The 116th Anniversary of the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology and the Online Forum of Hujiang Accounting Leaders of the Business School were Successfully Held

On the afternoon of October 29, the 116th anniversary of the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, and the online forum of Hujiang Accounting Leaders of the Business School were successfully held. Professor Song Liangrong, the leader of the accounting discipline in the Business School of USST, Professor Zhao Hongjin, the head of the Department of Accounting, associate professor Yu Qianlong, the secretary of the Department of Accounting and the deputy director of the master's program of accounting, Wu Xiaohui, the 1998 alumnus of auditing and senior partner of the Certified Public Accountants, Gao Zhihong, Zhao Zhefeng, Lv Chen, the 2019 MPAcc alumni, Wang Jie, the 2020 MPAcc alumnus, Han Xueqin, the 2021 MPAcc student, Huang Yuying, director of MPAcc enrollment in the Professional Degree Education Center and more than 100 people, including graduate students and alumni of the Professional Degree Education Center, and candidates for the USST, participated in the forum online. The meeting was hosted by Associate Professor Yu Qianlong.

Yu Qianlong first thanked the alumni and teachers and students for actively participating in this forum and gave a brief introduction to the Hujiang Accounting Navigator who braved the wind and waves. He hoped that the alumni could take this opportunity to share their feelings and thoughts on their growth and achievements.

Song Liangrong made a detailed introduction and sharing of the discipline development of the MPAcc project from the centennial context of USST to the Business School. He also systematically introduced the development of the USST accounting department from undergraduate program to MPAcc program, as well as the employment of accounting students focusing on advanced manufacturing. He thought it was important to promote the directions of accounting on advanced manufacturing, accounting intelligence and other featured fields, and hoped that alumni and students can work together to promote the development of accounting.

Zhao Hongjin introduced the development of the accounting major and faculty status quo of USST. Based on the linkage of applied disciplines and technological innovation of multi groups, the Accounting Department of the Business School of USST established a solid and excellent team of teachers, which is supported by research projects from many organizations. It was hoped that alumni can learn more about the Accounting Department of USST and disseminate the information. He hoped that alumni can participate in alumni activities more, and work together with teachers and students to forge ahead, learn together, and create a new future together.

Wu Xiaohui shared his Heart Journey from the Big Four to Senior Partners of Domestic Accounting Firms. Through his 28 years of professional experience as an audit and partner, Wu Xiaohui introduced his career experience and emphasized that the basic knowledge and practical application he learned in the Accounting Department of USST laid a foundation for future development. Finally, he shared his tip of three 12-year planning, which greatly benefited the online alumni and students.

Wu Xiaohui answered the questions from online students and alumni. Everyone spoke freely online. The atmosphere was relaxed and active.

Then the alumni had a "Bosihui" interaction and sharing session. Zhao Zhefeng shared the “Strategic Decision Enabled by Accounting to Assist the High Quality Development of the Industry”, which mainly elaborated the importance of accounting function expansion, information system construction and the ability of enabling strategic decision. He hoped that all students could take the initiative to analyze and help the high-quality development of the industry through sharing and interaction among fellow peers.

Wang Jie shared "Interaction between Accounting and Enterprises", stressed the importance of accounting to enterprises, as well as the job opportunities in the accounting field and the development model of accountants, and explained that the future success of accounting career needs a strong sense of responsibility and enterprising spirit, especially in the context of the COVID-19, which needed to adapt to new working methods and cultivate new skills.

Lv Chen shared “MPAcc's Experience in Employment and Career Selection”, and put forward suggestions on the career changes before and after graduation, the improvement and career selection brought about by studying accounting as a master. He hoped that the younger students should set goals, choose carefully and make efforts.

Gao Zhihong shared the "Distinguished Experience of Studying for Master of Accounting". He introduced the characteristics of MPAcc to the students on campus and candidates for USST from different perspectives including the university, the master of accounting, the course setting, thesis writing and accounting life. He sent a message to the students: Only when you have faith can you go far: accept yourself and work hard but accept failure.

Han Xueqin shared “the experience of full-time MPAcc study and internship”. From campus life to her internship experience, she introduced the full-time MPAcc study in USST to the freshmen and potential applicants. She said that she benefited a lot from studying in USST both on the theoretical knowledge of the textbook and practical ability.

At the end of the event, the alumni interacted with the online students. The whole activity lasted nearly three hours, and the online forum ended in a warm and happy atmosphere.

This online forum is one of the activities of the 116th anniversary celebration of USST jointly organized by the Accounting Department of the Business School and the Professional Degree Education Center. The Accounting Department and the Professional Degree Education Center held this forum together, which was with rich and colorful contents, various guests and participants, and a wide audience. The students and alumni who participated in the forum said that the forum was a very meaningful activity where students could gain knowledge and experience from many angles and at many levels.
