Since the beginning of the current activities to prevent and control the COVID-19 epidemic, under the unified management of the university, the teachers of the Department of Business Administration have been working together to overcome the difficulties to ensure the smooth running of teaching. In order to better study and implement the requirements of General Secretary Xi Jinping, the Party Central Committee and Party organizations at all levels on grasping and implementing the key decisions on epidemic prevention and control, according to the specific arrangements of the work tips issued by the Party Committee of the school, using the living teaching material of epidemic prevention and control, and enhancing the effectiveness of the Curriculum Ideology and Politics, the Department of Business Administration held an online seminar on civic studies course and Party Branch themed learning activity on the evening of May 11. The event was co-chaired by Party Branch Secretary Lu Hong and Deputy Director Zhou Yang. Vice Dean Zhang Zheng, Vice Dean He Jianjia, Director Ge Yuhui, Deputy Director Lin Feng and all other teachers of the department attended the event.

Lu Hong, the Party Branch Secretary, firstly led the group to study the instructions of the Standing Committee of the Central Political Bureau and the specific requirements of the enlarged meeting of the Standing Committee of the Shanghai Municipal Committee, asked everyone to be confident of victory and to do their utmost to win the battle against the epidemic for Shanghai. Young teachers Chen Xin, Tian Ying and Qin Jialiang shared their experience of working in special times, while Lu Hong summarized the achievements in the recent epidemic prevention and control work, and called on the branch members continue to use their professional expertise to be an advocator, a demonstrator or a carer in epidemic prevention.

On the basis of the collective study of the spirit of the relevant conference, all teachers carried out exchanges and discussions on how to safeguard and improve the quality of teaching under the epidemic and how to turn the epidemic crisis into an opportunity to educate students, taking into account the actual situation of Shanghai university teachers fighting against the epidemic. Vice Dean Zhang Zheng introduced the recent work and notes on undergraduate teaching, final examinations and graduation defense, and gave advice on the value-added efficiency of Ideology and Politics teaching. Vice Dean He Jianjia shared examples of work carried out during the fight against the epidemic at school and typical examples of parenting. Since USST-BS entered closed-loop management, teachers stayed on the frontline of the fight against the epidemic. The school had also arranged for teachers to live in the students' flats with students to calm them down, and also integrated the ideological education to cultivate a positive and optimistic attitude and an indomitable spirit in the face of difficulties, and organized volunteer activities to cultivate a sense of mission among students.

Afterwards, Ge Yuhui, Director of the department, deployed the recent professional construction work. Lin Feng, Deputy Director of the department, deployed the student employment promotion work, and Zhou Yang, Deputy Director of the department, emphasized the key points of thesis defense and final examination, and led a discussion around the teaching of Curriculum Ideology and Politics. Zheng Yaqin believed that in order to do a good job in the course of Ideology and Politics, teachers must be well prepared before the class and pay attention to accumulating relevant cases, such as advanced deeds in the fight against epidemics, so as to better integrate the vivid examples into all aspects of teaching and to influence students implicitly. Tang Qingqing suggested that teachers should also focus on how they can better enable students to absorb the ideological elements of the course, for example, teachers should take the initiative to improve their online teaching skills and enrich their teaching methods. Hu Zhonghui analyzed possible practices of Curriculum Ideology and Politics, such as guiding students to understand and tap into localized Chinese management theories, using examples of Chinese organizations in teaching and integrating proper values education. Yu Byungjun, a Korean teacher, said that under the guidance of his predecessors in the department, he had gained a deeper knowledge and understanding of Ideology and Politics courses, and would continue to accumulate experience in teaching in the future in order to do his teaching better and better.

After the event, all faculty were clear about goals and directions for building the Curriculum Ideology and Politics, and stated that later they would stand on their posts, perform their duties, contribute to epidemic control in their communities as a volunteer. They also expressed that, in their daily teaching, they would show their concern for and guide the student to care about physical and mental health, so as to contribute their shares to the battle against the epidemic.
