Recently, Associate Professor LIANG Shidong, a young faculty from the Department of Transportation System Engineering of Business School, was invited by the international journal Sustainability to be a guest editor of the journal and was responsible for manuscript collection and peer review. Considering the current international research hotspots and Dr. LIANG Shidong's research fields, the special issue of Sustainable Transportation Electrification: Policy, Planning and Operation was opened to call on research papers and reviews in this theme from relevant researchers around the world.
Currently transport electrification is widely regarded as an effective solution to reduce the dependence of road transport systems on fossil fuels and greenhouse gas emissions. The rapid growth of electric vehicles around the world will have a significant impact on existing systems. In the era of transportation electrification, the way urban transportation systems are transformed is still an open question. Thus, this special issue calls for high-quality research papers and review related to transportation electrification, including but not limited to the following topics: vehicle operation, electric vehicle charging infrastructure planning, eco-friendly travel for electric vehicles, policies on transportation electrification, changes in traffic flow and human factors in electrified transportation systems, big data and data mining in electrified transportation systems, innovative electric transportation systems solutions, environmental impacts of transportation electrification, evaluation methods for electrified transportation systems. Dr. LIANG Shidong has extensive research in the field of traffic management and control. He has published several high-level academic papers in well-known journals including Transportation Science, Transportation Research Part B, Transportation Research Part C, Reliability Engineering & System Safety, Communications in Nonlinear Science & Numerical Simulation, Computers & Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematical Modelling and Nonlinear Dynamics. He also presided over 4 national and provincial-level projects including the National Natural Science Foundation of China and served as a peer reviewer for many international journals, with fruitful research results and rich scientific research experience.
