Aiming to accelerate the construction of education system for professional Master Degree by borrowing experience of sister institutions and to understand the employment market, the Department of Public Finance & Taxation held a forum about discipline construction. People who also participated the forum included Prof. WANG Zhangqi Vice Dean of Graduate School USST, Prof. ZHANG Yongqing, Vice Dean of the Business School, Prof. LEI Lianghai Discipline Leadership of Applied Economics and also Director of Master Program of Taxation, Prof. TIAN Fa, Director of the Department of Public Finance and Taxation. All staff of the department participated in the discussion and exchange.
The forum was presided by Prof. LEI Lianghai. First he welcomed the experts and appreciated their present. He said that the purpose of the forum is to learn from the success of sister schools and other institutions in the field and to collect suggestions and ideas about how how to build the education system for professional Master Degree. Vice Dean ZHANG Qi talked about the situation of constructing the discipline system for profession Master Degree, and gave a brief introduction about the high-end manufacture, artificial intelligence, inter-discipline of medicine and engineering in USST. Vice Dean ZHANG Yongqing sincerely solicited the guests the instructions about developing profession degree program. Then Prof. ZHU Weiqun proposed suggestions on the pathway design, research direction, curriculum design and development plan etc about the profession degree construction. He stressed the importance of integrating education plan with employability, integrating research achievements and training methodology. Prof. DU Li, based-on the assessment of professional Master Degree of Taxation in Fudan University, proposed good suggestions on the program characteristics and material accumulation. PROF. Li Jiulin introduced the academic advantage of professional Master Degree of Taxation of Shanghai Customs College which is the combination of academic with special taxation of customs. Prof. YANG Guangyan suggested on the staff allocation and industry-institute-research integration. In the end, Director LI Xinning described the program of Shanghai National Accounting Institute.
The experts XIN Lipeng, CUI Yanshuang, ZHU Min, WANG Lin all gave their opinions on key issues, like ability of problem-solving using Dialectical thinking skills, professional skill set required by Accounting Firms, law and taxation combination in curriculum and spirit of teamwork.
In the end, Prof LEI Lianghai made a concluding speech. We would like to express our gratitude to the experts for their insightful opinions on the practice of talent training and the actual demand for talents. It is pointed out that the experts in this seminar on discipline construction have put forward many good opinions and suggestions on the scale of enrollment, training, building characteristics of the discipline, improving teaching methods, research results and students' employment, etc., which are constructive and inspiring to the discipline construction of the Professional Master Degree of Taxation in our university. At the same time, we should strengthen the effective cooperation with the sister institutions and relevant departments in the industry, so as to form the advantages and characteristics the program for our university.
