“Professional Degree Course Teachers and Instructors on Behalf of the 2019 Orientation Seminar” Was Held

On January 15 afternoon, “professional degree course teachers and instructors on behalf of the 2019 Orientation Seminar” held in the Business School Conference Room 506. Zhou Xizhao, dean of Business School and Director of the Center for Professional Degree Education; Wang Wei, secretary of the Party Committee of Business School; Zhang Yongqing, vice dean of the school and deputy director of the center for professional degree education; Ye Chunming, vice dean and director of the MBA program, Zhang Zheng; and Che Liping, MPA program director, as well as the professional degree management committee member Han Yin, professional degree course teachers and tutor representatives, office staff attended the Seminar.

The meeting was chaired by Zhang Yongqing, vice dean of Business School and deputy director of the center for professional degree education, discussed professional degree education work to express thanks. At the same time, he briefly reviewed the development and construction of the program of University of Shanghai for Science and Technology.

At the seminar, Zhou Xizhao gave the first speech. Zhou introduced the work of the Professional Degree Education Center in 2018, and affirmed the achievements of various projects and the work achievements of teachers and instructors of relevant courses, expounded the new problems in the three links of enrollment, cultivation and degree conferment of professional degree education, and put forward higher requirements for the work in 2019.

Then, MBA program director Zhang Zheng, MPA program director Che Liping, and MEM program director Geng Xiuli, respectively, reviewed and introduced the work of their professional degrees in 2018, he said that the development direction of the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology’s professional degree should follow the development path with its own characteristics, that the master’s degree of the College’s professional degree should have its own characteristics, and that the university should further make good use of its various resources and expand the number of students enrolled, strive to achieve as soon as possible the first voluntary coverage of all enrollment. Han Yin, a member of the Professional Degree Management Committee, also talked about his views on professional degree education, pointing out that with the current social development trend and the change of national policy, the development of professional degree education will be greatly expanded, we should prepare in advance and make the corresponding plan, in the development characteristic and the quality make more efforts, step by step link. In addition, the school also needs according to its own circumstances, to make contributions to the teachers, administrative staff to give incentives.

Gong Defeng and Luo Fang respectively gave speeches and pointed out some specific problems in the process of enrollment and training of professional degree courses, it includes how to use the resources of teachers and students to expand the publicity and promotion of enrollment, how to deal with the uneven professional background and foundation of students, etc.

Finally, Secretary Wang Wei made a summary of the meeting, affirming that this kind of face-to-face communication forum is a good form. The meeting reviewed and summarized the work of the past year, this paper discusses the specific direction and content of professional degree work in the future, and hopes to have more opportunities for dialogue, communication and discussion with professional degree teachers and instructors.

Through this seminar, we put forward a lot of valuable opinions and suggestions from the point of view of the first-line work, which is very useful for our college’s future professional degree education. The 2019 orientation seminar was successfully concluded in a warm atmosphere. Since then, MPA project director Che Liping continued to host the MPA symposium attended by some participants.
